Simon Says Challenge 3 # Recipe

I am actually on holiday in the UK at the moment and am hoping that Mr Bloggy posts this for me !! I am sorry that I won't be visiting your blogs for the next few days but will try to catch up when I get home next week x x

The theme this week on the Simon Says Challenge is a recipe 3 buttons, 2 papers and 1 ribbon :-) You can also use plain card for layering etc :-)
I decided to make a baby card using my new House Mouse Cozy Shoe stamp and papers from the Basic Grey porcelain collection which I just bought from Simon Says Stamp store I coloured the image with copics, I do love them !! I used stickles on all the dots to glitter it up a little bit :-)
The buttons are clear ones from Stamping up which I coloured with my new alcohol inks and glimmered with perfect pearls, I then just threaded a little bit of brown paper through them. The sentiment is also from Stamping Up, the ribbon is from my messy drawer ( I must tidy that up !! ) :-)

I also made a gift box using a new template which I bought from The Cutting Cafe I actually bought this by mistake !! I actually wanted the stationary set, which I bought as well !! but I like them both and am happy I got them, especially as it was on DH credit card :-)

You have plenty of time to enter the challenge it runs for 2 weeks so you have no excuse :-) Also Heidi has very generously offered a $25 shopping spree to the Simon Says Stamp store for the lucky winner drawn at random :-)

Funky Fairy's Challenge 14# Sketch

This week on the Funky Fairy's Challenge
Joanne has made this fabulous sketch to use.
Sometimes cards just make themselves and this one did just that ! Nothing to do with me :-)
Don't forget that to be in with a chance to win a fabulous paper download you cannot combine with other challenges, though you can still enter !! Also you must use a Funky Fairy's Papercraft item, there are lots of free downloads on the blog of inspiration :-)
I used Funky Meets Shabby Chic papers from Funky Fairys Papercrafts The image is from the Digital Stamp Oasis This one is called 'Mushroon Lane Butterfly'
I also used some blue and black cardstock for layering. The butterfly stamps are from hero arts, I also stamped them onto vellum and sprinkled with clear sparkle embossing powder, the sentiment is from a Stamping Up set, I thought the wording was just perfect for catterpillar to butterfly !! :-) I used loads of stickles on the butterfly, the organza ribbon was from my messy draw and the small flowers were made using a daisy punch and finished with a crystal gem.

Even though I say so myself I do like this card, hope you do too :-) The rest of the Design Team have made some wonderful creations for you to gain 'inspiration' so please pop by to see them and leave a comment :-)

The papers are Basic Grey and a little coredinations. The flowers are by Prisma and I also added some dew drops and a ribbon to finish:-) The sentiment is from Clare Curd's sentiment set, fab value for money !! :-)

I used ivory stardream card and a little gold/cream handmade paper that I bought from Binky Crafts. I stamped a Penny Black music script stamp onto vellum using gold brilliance and embossed with clear sparkle and used that for the 2 side panels. The image is Penny Black 'Daisy Chime'. I coloured the image with prisma pencils and then added artquest interference gold paint.
The flowers were made with a daisy punch and Stamping Up flat backed pearls for the centres. The swirly corners and leaves were cut out on my cricut. The congratulations text is also from Stamping Up.

Funky Fairy's Challenge 'Winged Things'

ooh he is a mucky kid !! :-)

This is my 1st entry to the Basic Grey Challenge
The theme this week is paper piecing.
I used my new 'Summer Edwin' stamp and atamped him onto the dinosaur print paper from the Basic Grey Archaic booklet using memento brown ink pad and cut out his top, then stamped him onto plain card and coloured him with copics and dirtied his face and hands with chalks. I cut a dinosaur egg shape to sit him ( yes they used to lay them wonky !!!! lol) and coloured it with diluted alcohol inks then splattered it with alcohol inks too.
All the papers used are Basic Grey Archaic papers, I also used black/orange coredinations card to make the frame, which was cut out on my cricut and sanded. The sentiment is from the Clare Curd clear stamp set.
The Basic Grey papers and Edwin magnolia stamp are from the Simon Says Stamp store

Susie Dancing Squirrel

I made this card following the lovely sketch on the Stampovie Challenge am not sure if this qualifies for there challenge or not !! The theme on the Creative Card Crew Challenge is black/white/silve/grey, this is the 1st time I am entering this challenge but I love monochromatic cards so this was right up my street :-) I also tried to make it fit in with the Charisma Cardz Challenge who's theme is 'Little Black Dress'.I tried to make it as dark as possible and still show 'depth' !! I know the tutu has photographed 'blue' but it isn't really, it's very dark grey with shimmer !! honest !! :-)

I used a gorgeous download image from the Digital Stamp Oasis Susie the Dancing Squirrel :-) I will add the text later when I know what it's for !! :-)
I used all black/grey/white card, stardream, coredinations, hammered,,,, :-) A little black ribbon and thats all ! The image was coloured with copics :-)

Simon says Challenge 2# Recycle

We had a fabulous response for the 1st Challenge 110 entries :-)Thanks to everyone who entered. Let's see if we can get even more with the 2nd one !!
This week on the Simon says Challenge DT Chris had the brilliant idea of a 'Recycling' Challenge, we should all be doing our bit for the environment eh girls ( and boys ! )
You can use anything on your cards, but you must use at least one item that has been used before, the DT have some lovely ideas, so pop over to their blogs to see what they have made :-)
My sister and her daughter recently went to New York so I thought I would make them a 6x6 photo album each. The mountboard was retrieved from my local framer's bin, no I didn't rummage he very kindly rummaged for me :-) The stamps were fom my son's old stamp collection, the string was from a parcel and the ribbon was from the inside of tops ( you know the bits that always stick out !! ) The only thing that was new is the large pieces of paper, the others were from my scrap box, the black gems and of course the rings for the 'Bind-it-all'.

The Statue of Liberty image is from
Simon Says Clear Stamps DREAM PARIS ROME NEW YORK Exclusive!
The paper is Basic Grey porcelain papers which are also from the Simon Says Stamp Store

The text and 'Big Apple' were cut out on my cricut, the text inside is stamped with a 'hero arts' mixed alphabet set

Now go and see the Simon Says Challenge blog to see the fabulous creations that the rest of the Design Team made to 'inspire' you, don't forget to leave them a nice comment too :-)

Thanks for looking, your comments are appreciated so please leave me one :-)
Before you leave tho, check out my blog candy :-)
I look forward to seeing your entries in the challenge :-)

Funky Fairy's Challenge 11# Recipe

This week on the Funky Fairy's Challenge
is a recipe 1 image 2 papers 3 embellishments :-)
I used a Penny Black stamp,'long stem cuties', 2 papers from the 'In with the Old' set from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts' and my 3 embellishments are 1 flower, 1 brad, 1 ribbon :-)

I printed the 'in with the old' paper onto thin mulberry paper, I thought that it might get stuck in the printer but thought it was worth a try, and what are husbands for if not to 'sort' that sort of stuff out if it goes all horribly wrong :-) but luckily it printed OK :-) yay. I also printed a sheet of plain pink which I stamped with script.
I had a spare piece of mountboard handy, so i stamped the image onto mulberry paper too and stuck it onto the mountboard, masked the image and sprayed with glimmer mists, I then coloured with inks, which didn't look right !! so i stamped them onto card and coloured them again and 3D'd them, ,,, much better !! ( as you can see I was trying new techniques here !! )
The base card was stardream too, so the whole card is really shimmery and lovely in real life :-)
The sentiment is from the Clare Curd sentiment set, and the brad is from Doodlebug :-)
Thanks for looking, now go and create something to enter our challenge :-) There are lots of free downloadable papers on the Blog Of Inspiration, just scroll down and they're on the right hand side :-)To be in with a chance of winning a fabulous download prize this challenge must not be linked to others :-)

Now hop over to the Funky Fairy's Challenge blog to see the fabulous creations from the Design Team, don't forget to leave them nice comments too :-)

I used mainly SU products on this card, the image, text and papers are from Stamping Up, I also used a little coredinations card, the scalloped circle was cuttlebugged in the swirly folder and sanded, the torn strip was just sanded, the flower and ribbon are from my messy drawers :-) I coloured the image with copics and added stickles to the swirls on the paper,

Thanks a Bunch :-)

I made this card following the fab sketch by Becky on the Sketch and Stash Challenge
, the wierd thing is is that before I went to see the sketch i had just completed a DT card using this layout, so it's either great minds think alike or I'm telepathic lol :-)
It also qualifies for the Charisma Cardz Challenge who's theme is purple/green combo, and the Stamp Something Challenge is asking for shapes, well I have a square card, rectangles, ovals and a circle flower.I am also entering it into the 1st Copics Challenge which is 'colouring faces/skin tones', and the Papertake Weekly challenge which is 'Pastel colours'

The image and text is a Whiff Of Joy stamp that I bought a while ago and this is the 1st time I've used it, she's been sitting on my desk, attached to a perspex block for over a week waiting to be inked :-) So I thought I should ink her up ! The papers are a new booklet of Daisy and Dandelion papers from Do Crafts, the lovely shiny purple paper is courtesy of Joanne and the Stamptacular Challenge team, this was in a fab parcel that arrived today it was a prize on the launch day of the new challenge, thanks Joanne x x, the metal text oval is from a Stamping Up hardware set.

Thanks for looking, your comments are appreciated so please leave me one :-)
Don't forget you only have today to enter the Simon Says and the Funky Fairy's Challenges and there are fabulous prizes on both :-)

Digital Tuesday Challenge

I made this card for the Digital Tuesday Challenge, the theme this week is 'shabby chic', this is a new thing for me ! I have no idea if this looks OK or just completely 'wrong' so I really would appreciate constructive criticism
I used a digital download from the Digital Stamp Oasis
, this one is called 'Susie watering flowers'
I used a base card of light brown which I sprayed with glimmer mist in orange and green, I sponged up the excess ink and dabbed it around the torn edge of the image. I inked a sunflower stamp with brown ink and stamped it onto parchment paper and inked areas of that and a torn parchment music score too.
The flower is a hero arts one and I distressed a SU button with alcohol ink and then shimmered it with perfect pearls and tied a ribbon through it.
The Susie image is 3D'd to add even more dimension :-)

Ellie is looking for a design team for her challenge blog, why don't you go and check it out :-) Just click on the link above ( Digital Tuesday Challenge)

The theme on the Lili of the Valley Challenge is 'Fun' and I think this little mouse looks like he's having lots of fun !! :-)
The stamp is a HM 'Confetti Rain' The patterned paper is from the new Clare Curd paper book. The peachy cream shimmer paper is stardream, I do love that paper and card, and the orange is coredinations, cuttlebugged and sanded :-) I made the flowers using a daisy punch, the sentiment was printed on the computer !

A Gift From Simon Says Stamp :-)

Inside view

Yesterday I received a lovely set of Simon Says Clear Stamps 'A Wise Owl Once Said' exclusives as a gift from Heidi, Thanks so much Heidi x

I made the card following Dawny's fab sketch on the Papertake Weekly Challenge, I also decorated the inside so it qualifies for the ABC challenge :-) The branch is a stamp by Penny Black, I used stamping up paper and green/brown cardstock. The ribbon was also a gift fron Heidi, it matched the card perfectly I thought, I downloaded the card folder template from The Cutting Cafe'
and made 6 small notelet cards to put in it, I adjusted the sizes to fit :-)

The pen holder was made using an empty coffee whitener container, the text at the top was in the set of clear stamps, around the bottom I stamped 'put the tops back on' Sue made me think of that cos she bought a new stazon pad and left the lid off overnight !! :-)

Think thats all ! Thanks for looking, your comments are appreciated so please leave me one :-)
Also don't forget to enter my blog candy before you leave :-)

Funky Fairy's Challenge 11#

The theme this week on the Funky Fairy Challenge is 'Dare to be Square'. Well when I heard this I was thinking 'outside the box' and square pegs round holes :-)
I have had this paper mache box in my drawer for 3 years so thought it was about time I did something with it. I go to night school to do mosaic so I had the idea to do a faux mosaic effect on this. I painted the box grey as I love to use grey grouting on the real thing ! I then printed some 'Cherish' papers in 3 colours from Funky Fairy Papercrafts, cut these into 2cm squares and stuck them on the top and around the base. The swirly scrolls were cut on my cricut. I then sprayed everything with a clear mat varnish to seal it all :-)
I used red cardstock for the base card and didn't want to cover too much of that up so I used a little of the the clock design paper from the same 'Cherish' set and a swirly scroll. I coloured barefoot Tilda with copics and dabbed a lovely shimmery light blue sky and green at the bottom but it doesn't show on the photo, in real life it looks lovely, honest !! I used a nestie to cut the image circle and cut the larger green circle using a fiskars circle cutter to make it slightly larger, it matched the clocks better than a scalloped one I thought !!
The sentiment was printed on the comp and stuck in a SU hardware thing!

Thanks for looking, I hope you join in the Funky Fairy Challenge this week, there is a prize of a download set from Funky Fairy Papercrafts on offer so what're you waiting for :-)

There are some lovely free paper downloads on the Blog of Inspiration
Also Shaz has added 2 more fabulous sets to the shop, Gorjuss Ginghams and Just Hanging Around both of them are absolutely gorgeous, if you click on the link it will take you straight to them :-)

I also have some blog candy to celebrate 10,000 hits ( almost !) and my good luck in all things crafty :-) so please enter, I haven't given you too many hoops to jump through ha ha !!

Amy Came 1st in Art !! :-)

Hi all, as some of you may remember Amy's caricatures I thought I'd let you know that she came 1st in her final school Art exam ( she still has to do the national one) and got full marks for her portfolio which is the national exam one. She is over the moon about it and is grinning from ear to ear, even with her new braces !!! ha ha
She is now planning to come to a study art at a UK uni when she's 18 so I may be calling on all you bloggy mates to keep an eye on her for me !!!!!

Stair Step Fold Card

I saw a stair step fold card on the SCS site at Christmas and have been thinking I should have a go at making one and never got around to it ! So the Cupcake Craft Challenge has spurred me on :-)The theme for this week is multi folds, so you have to make more than 2 folds on your card. This card also qualifies for the House Mouse Monday Challenge whose theme is 'something sweet'. The Spoonfull of Sugar Challenge is 'How Old !!' and the ABC Challenge which is 'Hearts' :-)

I used a Funky Fairy's Papercrafts 'Feeling Fruity'download paper. The HM stamps were a little big so I tried using shrink plastic but that didn't look nice, the colours were too dark, so I stamped them onto paper, scanned them and shrunk the images ! I had never thought of doing that before but it worked :-)
I cut out the 'celebrate' and numbers on my cricut. The 'happy birthday' text was from the Clare Curd sentiment set and the 'to you' was from a Simon Says Stamp exclusive cupcake set
I just added some crystal stickles here and there and it was done :-)

For those of you who don't know how to make a stair fold card the measurements are :-
Cut a piece of card 5" X 10.5"
score lines at 1.25", 2.5",4.25",6" & 8.25"
just fold along the score lines to make mountain and valley folds ( think that's what they're called.)

Thanks for looking, your comments are appreciated so please leave me one :-)

Evie's frame !! :-)

Ok I made another frame today for Evie :-) The 'Ellie' one is going to a good home :-) It isn't exactly the same, I used barefoot Tilda for this one :-)
I made this so that it would enter The Pink Elephant Challenge They ask for us to use rubber stamps, punches and embossing I used a cat punch and star punch on this, the Tilda is a rubber stamp, I used brown pigment ink and embossed with sparkle EP. I am not sure if this was the type of embossing the pink elephant wanted as all the DT used embossing folders so if it's wrong just scrub me off :-)I stamped the image twice and 3D'd it, I also made her some vellum wings so that she can fly :-) The paper is papermania, the frame is a chipboard one by woodware.
The letters and balloon were cut out on my cricut.
Thanks for looking, I appreciate your comments so please leave me one :-)
Lorraine x

Milly's Birthday Card :-)

I have been meaning to enter a Pollycraft Challenge for ages, ever since I bought this and another fab image a few weeks ago :-)
The theme this week is 'Downloadables' This image is 'Birthday Milly' I coloured her with copics.and added loads of glitter :-) The striped paper has been on my shelf for at least 2 years and have no idea who's it is ! I added blue liquid pearls on all the dots that were already printed there. The pink paper is stardream and I used some cordinations that I cuttlebugged using my swiss dots folder. The sentiment was printed on me comp from a download too. I know this card looks a bit plain, I did toy with the idea of adding flowers and a ribbon but I actually like the uncluttered look of this so I decided to just leave it as is :-)
I followed this fab sketch on the Friday Sketchers Challenge
This card also qualifies for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge which is 'Stripes' and I am also entering the Colour Create Challenge too, the theme is 'Duck egg blue and Rose' I realise my colours might not be exact but they're as near as I could get them with my supplies. If it's not OK then just scribble my name off :-)

Thanks for looking, your comments are appreciated so please leave me one :-)

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

I made this for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge who's theme is 'New Beginings' My niece has just had a baby girl called 'Evie' so why did I make a frame for 'Ellie' ????? Hmmm cos I didn't realise till Amy asked 'Who's Ellie ' !!! :-) ha ha
I bought the chipboard frame ages ago and it was just in a drawer waiting for a day when I would use it :-) After seeing DT Nikki's frame I knew I had to use this, thanks Nikki x
I covered it with papermania paper, to match the photo album I had already made for 'Evie'!!The stamp is called 'Squeak' (I think) from the Daisy and Dandelion range at Do Crafts. The name and balloon were cut using my cricut, I added stickles crystal glue everywhere!!
Thanks for looking, I appreciate your comments so please leave me one :-)
Lorraine x
p.s luckily I have another one of these frames so will do another one for tomorrow for Evie :-)

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

There's a new challenge blog started today called the Scraptacular Sunday Challenge They are having a day of various challenges. I made this card following the recipe of
ribbon, 2 different pattern papers, sentiment and at least one flower, well I think I ticked all the boxes :-)
The image is a Digital Stamp Oasis download called Susie Squirrel loves Dandelions, or in this case flower soft :-) The background paper is a download from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts
called 'It's so Distressing', the butterfly paper is from Crafty Individuals.
I coloured the image using copics , I 3D'd the flowers then sprinkled them with flowersoft, which is available in the Simon Says Stamp store. The text ia from the Clare Curd Sentiment set and the metal text and flower are from Papermania.

Thanks for looking, I appreciate your comments so please leave me one :-)

Rebecca Rabbit the Painter

I made this card following the lovely but rather complicated sketch by Lim on the Spoonfull of Sugar Challenge :-)It also qualifies for the Stamp Something and Lily of the Valley challenges which are both 'Easter'. The theme on Cute Card Thursday is Citrus and last but not least the new Alphabet Challenge is into it's 2nd week and the theme is 'B'

I am also entering this for the Simon says Challenge who's theme is Yellow and Green and they have a fab prize of a gift voucher, so hoping I might win that :-)
Only joking, am not allowed to enter :-(

The main image is Rebecca Rabbit the Painter which is available as a digi download from the Digital Stamp Oasis I coloured her with copics, added glitter and 3D'd her :-) The papers are all Funky Fairy Papercrafts , I also used white and yellow card and some magenta mesh. The sugared brads are from Papermania.I didn't add 3 embellies at the top, the printed flowers are there instead, The 'Happy Easter' was printed on me comp :-)

One Stop Craft Challenge

I made this for the One Stop Craft Challenge The theme is 'Bling' Well I don't think I've ever seen a stamp with more bling than this House Mouse Beading Basics :-) I bought this stamp a long time ago from the simonsaysstamp.com website and rarely used it cos I thought it was too hard to colour, but now I have copics !! yay its easy now !!
The papers are downloads from the Funky Fairy's Papercrafts website I love these papers, and did even before I was on the DT :-) just in case you thought I was being biased :-) I used a few pearl black flat backed pearls from papermania. The hat pin took me ages to make, I've never made one before and hadn't a clue how to do it, still don't so don't look too closely :-)

Thanks for looking, I appreciate your comments so please leave me one :-)
